Past scorecard violations: CHANGES BROWSER SETTINGS OTHER THAN HOMEPAGE, WITHOUT USER PERMISSION, SILENTLY CONNECTS TO AN UNINTENDED SITE (WITH OR WITHOUT REDIRECTING THE ADDRESS REQUEST) DURING A BROWSER SESSION, TO TRANSMIT USAGE OR OTHER INFORMATION TO THAT SITE WITHOUT USER PERMISSION, SILENTLY CONNECTS TO THE INTERNET AFTER REBOOT AND WITHOUT USER AWARENESS OR CONSENT IN THAT SESSION, SILENTLY TRACKS SITES VISITED ALONG WITH IDENTIFICATION OF THE USER/MACHINE BY IP ADDRESS, GUID, GUID FOR THAT MACHINE, EMAIL ADDRESS, NAME, SSN#, PHONE NUMBER, CREDIT CARD INFO, OR OTHER IDENTIFIER WITHOUT USER PERMISSION )

Based on eTrust PestPatrolÂ« Spyware Scorecard v2.0 Clear Search violates the following criteria: First, changes browser settings, for example the default search provider, home or error page(s) etc., without user permission at time of change. Second, Silently connects to an unintended location to transmit personal information.

Detection and Removal

Manual Removal

Follow these steps to remove Clear-Search from your machine. Begin by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a mistake.

Stop Running Processes:

Kill these running processes with Task Manager:

Unregister DLLs:

Unregister these DLLs with Regsvr32, then reboot:

Remove Files:

Remove these files (if present) with Windows Explorer:

Remove Directories:

Remove these directories (if present) with Windows Explorer:

Restore Settings:

After following the instructions above, you will still need to restore your original settings and prevent this from happening again.
