About the Project

The Database of Spyware Project was started in 2001 as security experts predicted that Spyware, Malware, and Adware would become the top concern of network administrators and end users within 5 years. The goal of the project was simply to identify and catalog as many different Spyware, Adware, and Malware infections as possible and provide that information to the general public in an easy to navigate website.

The Database of Spyware Project started with two volunteers and has scraped together donations of information, money and goods to keep the lights on. Over time, we have refined our data collection and research methods to improve the quality of information available to the public and the speed at which it is delivered. In addition, Database of Spyware Project volunteers confirm all of the Spyware, Malware and Adware information independently to prevent any one data source from tainting the information we make available to the public.

This site and the database behind it are free to the public to use in any way that will help combat the ongoing threats posed by Adware, Spyware, and Malware. With that said, we are not rich and we don't have a ton of bandwidth, so certain methods of harvesting information from this website are prohibited. Please read the terms of use for more details.
